Ryan's Meals for Life

In the spring of 2017, Meals on Wheels of Central Indiana (MOWCI) was approached by the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) to design a Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) program for people living with HIV across the state. At the time, IDOH was preparing its application for a Ryan White Part B Supplemental Grant—a federal funding source named in honor of fellow Hoosier Ryan White, who tragically passed away from AIDS on April 8, 1990.

Through the resulting RMFL program, MOWCI provides medically tailored hot and cold meals, frozen meals, and pantry boxes to Ryan White Part B–eligible individuals living with HIV in Indiana. This program is funded by IDOH and delivers services both within Marion County and statewide.

In 2025, MOWCI received additional support from the Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD) through the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative. This funding expands access to MNT services for people living with HIV/AIDS in Marion County who are not eligible for Ryan White Part B services.
